Outcomes / "I Can" Statements: 
English Language Arts - First Quarter:

ELA.1.1 - I can answer questions about key details in a text; explain the central message using key details; identify characters, setting, and major events in a story using key details; identify and use distinguishing features of a sentence including first word capitalization and ending punctuation; decode regularly spelled single-syllable words; and write simple declarative sentences.

English Language Arts - Second Quarter:
ELA.1.2 - I can explain major differences between books that tell stories (fiction) and books that give information (nonfiction); produce single-syllable words by blending sounds, including consonant blends; produce spelling-sound correspondence for common consonant digraphs; use singular and plural (common) nouns with matching verbs in basic sentences; sort words into categories using common attributes; write a narrative using details to recount two or more sequenced events, using temporal words to signal event order (first, next, then), and provide closure (finally); write simple interrogative sentences.

ELA.1.3 - I can use illustrations and details in a story to name the characters, identify the setting, and name two events; compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in stories; segment and pronounce initial, medial vowel, and final sounds in spoken single-syllable words; produce, apply, and distinguish between long and short vowel sounds in one-syllable words; Capitalize dates and names of people (proper nouns); write simple exclamatory sentences.

English Language Arts - Third Quarter:
ELA.1.4 - I can answer questions about the main idea and key details in an informational text read aloud or independently; describe the connection between two individuals, events, ideas, or pieces of information in informational text; read words with inflectional endings; use verbs to convey a sense of past, present, and future; identify frequently occurring root words and their inflectional forms; write simple imperative sentences; write an opinion piece introducing a topic, state an opinion, supply a reason for the opinion, and provide closure

ELA.1.5 - I can distinguish between information provided by illustrations and words in informational text; produce and apply common vowel team conventions; decode and syllabicate two-syllable words; frequently occurring adjectives; and use frequently occurring affixes.

English Language Arts - Fourth Quarter: 
ELA.1.6 - I can use illustrations and details in informational text to describe key ideas; identify similarities and differences in informational texts; use singular-possessive nouns; use personal, possessive, and indefinite pronouns; use commas in dates and to separate single words in a series; and write an informative or explanatory text with topic, facts and closure.  

English Language Arts - Benchmarks Each Quarter: 
ELA.1.7 - I can apply reading strategies to read fluently and accurately; use context to confirm a word’s or phrase’s meaning or self-correct mispronunciations; apply conventional spelling for words with common spelling patterns and for frequently occurring irregular words; apply phonemic and word family strategies to spell words; and recite irregularly spelled words.
  
Math - First Quarter:
MA.1.1 - I can count and write numbers to 120; identify the digits in a 2-digit number; compare 2-digit numbers using <, >, =; identify 10 more or 10 less than a 2-digit number.

Math - Second Quarter:
MA.1.2 - I can apply commutative and associative properties of addition; relate counting to addition and subtraction; solve subtraction as an unknown addend problem; and use strategies to add and subtract within 20; and solve word problems with 3 addends with a sum less than or equal to 20.

MA.1.3 - I can identify if equations are equal or not; determine the unknown whole number in an addition or subtraction equation; add within 100; and subtract multiples of 10 from multiples of 10.

Math - Third Quarter:  
MA.1.4 - I can tell and write time to the hour and half hour; identify and name the value of coins; and identify the value of a group of coins up to $1.00.

MA.1.5 - I can distinguish between defining and non-defining attributes; draw shapes to possess defining attributes; compose 2D or 3D shapes to create a composite shape; partition circles and rectangles into 2 and 4 equal shares using halves, fourths and quarters; and describe that decomposing a circle and rectangle into more equal shares results in smaller shares.

Math - Fourth Quarter:  
MA.1.6 - I can organize data; use data to create bar graphs with 3 categories; and interpret data on graphs.

MA.1.7 - I can order and compare 3 objects by length; compare the lengths of 2 objects with a 3rd object; and express the length of an object as a whole number of length units.
